WWKIPD was 6/11/11 and you know I had to participate. Where to go, where to go, I had no idea where to go. I mean I knit in public all the time. Buton this day you wanted to represent in numbers to spread the word that knitting is HOT! If I lost all technology I would have a way to pass the time, would you? So when I received an e-mail from my local yarn shop Knitting With Sandra that the meet up place for WWKIPD was at the Canyon Crest Town Center I was there! The location was perfect, beautiful scenery and shops super close by.We meet in front of Jammin' Bread for a few hours before it got too hot so I wanted to share with you. Maybe I'll see you there next year.!!!
It was really good seeing the ladies from the shop. I haven't been to knit night in a while and I missed them and their conversation. If you ever find yourself at Knitting with Sandra you won't be disappointed. Everyone and I do mean everyone is really nice, no snobbery there at all. And of course there is yarn!
Yesterday I spent two hours with my 14 year old daughter on the equestrian trail by the house. She brought her camera and I brought my knitting. Just to get out , just to spend time together we walked at an explorer's pace. Bria and I were surprised to find lions and tigers and bears...OK seriously the reptiles and animals we saw made for great photos. My baby is quit a little photographer and takes beautiful pictures. As we walked along I chuckled on the inside thinking to myself that the two of us were behaving like professionals. As if we were on safari for the NationalGeographic. When the view was substantial, interesting, or pretty she would take a picture. If the view was worthy of photo we would try to be still and quiet our footsteps so not to disturb the wild life. Bria would switch between her two cameras one in her hand the other in her bag draped sideways across her body. Without sound or instruction she'd pass me the small lens changing to the larger as if I were her assistant. First it was lizards of all different colors and sizes. But as we advanced further along the trail we found squirrels, rabbits, birds, butterflies, quails, humming birds and ravens all in our own back yard. The rabbits and butterflies were too quick and escaped the shutter but she was able to capture the rest.To share part of the day i have included just a few.
Oh yes... I didmention above that I was knitting along the way. I cast on for the Honey Cowl on 6/8/11. The yarn I am using is from the Magnolia Society yarn club. The first yarn I received was three hanks of Madelinetosh 80/10/10 Worsted. That's 80% wool/10% cashmere/and 10% nylon in the Worn Denim colorway. It was so super soft and squishy I wanted to use it right away. If you noticed on the knitting progress bar that I finished the chevron scarf you'll know I was ready for my next project.
Tonight at 5:30pm PST the My Story Mixed Media Book class will start. I'm super excited my kit came in the mail last week. I opened it up and tried to capture everything thatMarion Smith.is in the kit. It's a two part workshop today and tomorrow taught by There was just too much stuff to fit in one picture...yeah meI'll make sure to share my work :) Thanks for stopping by, till next time. Leslie
I was excited to here that Vogue Knitting Magazine was coming to the iPad, so excited that bought it. A magazine that I have had a subscription to in the past was becoming mobile... A huge space saver right???. Patterns right there in your purse or knitting bag anytime you want, right??? The app from iTunes is free and magazine downloads are only $4.99. Once I downloaded the magazine I quickly noticed that certain pages would not open. I waited for the thinking circle thing to finish circling but had no luck. I thought to myself..I Don't Think I Like It. No matter how many times I came back to the magazine, or how long I waited for the circle... page 2 ( along with a few others) would not open. Will I ever know what is on that page Grrhhh! I guess I could just buy it from the store but then that defeats the purpose of the above mentioned perks. So I waisted $4.99 I wasn't going to download the next issue. Until..... Until there was an update for the app about a month later. After updating the app works GREAT and I did download the newest issue :) You never know with apps if they are worth it the consumer takes the risk. I'm just glad that Vogue Knitting worked out the kinks. They even fixed the printing problem that other customers had complaints about.
Quick chevron scarf update: I made a little progress and here are the pix, hope you like them. The yarn is from Blue Moon Fiber Arts : Socks that Rock Medium weight.
Two colors are used alternating every two rows with Watermelon Tourmaline and Farmhouse. I am using size 5 straight Brittney Birch needles.
Sometimes there is just no place like home. I should have know that when my nine year old daughter tossed her cookies Thursday night that sickness was not to far behind. I am the queen of catching someone else's cold and putting my own spin on it.
I was at the Color Connections Creative Tour at the Mission Inn in Riverside and it hit me. I don't know what brought it on but it came at the worst time a lovely stuffy nose, nashua, asthma invasion. My husband came to get me and I kept thinking there is no place like home. I am feeling better today still a little off some coughing but inhaler. Even though I missed out on some crafting girl goodness I was thankful that I lived close by.
On the upside...If you haven't heard of Color Connections Creative Tour it's
an event hosted by Prima Marketing , Tattered Angels, and Pink Paislee and let me say SQUEAL!! The product at this event was unbelievable and the setting of the Mission Inn was breathtaking. If this event is coming your way I would recommend it. Oh and don't cry for me Argentina ... I was able to pick up the class kits for the classes missed on day two. While I was there all the instructors were were very informative and I learned some new techniques :)
One of the good things about not feeling well ( if you had to pick one) is KNITTING. You don't have to leave the bed or a comfy position to do it . So while I wasn't feeling well I finished knitting my monster for my monster swap and started on a chevron scarf to sell in my store:) I will post pictures of my progress when there is enough rows to show.
Thanks for stopping by until next time... Leslie
I finally made and published a blog. For some people this is a no-brainer but for me I have been trying for months, and months, and months and months to get my blog to look just the right way. If you ask my teenagers they will tell you I drove them crazy asking them for blog help. This was not successful but last night at 11:40pm I found on Etsy Erin Bradley Designs www.erinbradleydesigns.com . Her graphics were just the right match, feel, and color i needed. There is still some tweaking I have to do but I can figure how to add more bells and whistles later. I am over the moon and can't wait share more.
